Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens is an American singer and rapper better known under her stage name, Queen Latifah. In music, film and television Queen Latifah has received the award of two Screen Actors Guild Awards (two Image Awards), a Grammy Award as well as six more Grammy nods and has been nominated for her Emmy Award. Queen Latifah, the daughter of an Newark New Jersey schoolteacher and an Newark New Jersey police officer Lancelot Owens Senior, was born and raised within Newark New Jersey. The couple split when Latifah was ten years old. was ten years old. Latifah attended Catholic school in Newark the state of New Jersey. She was also raised in her family's Baptist Church. Her stage name Latifah meaning delicate and very compassionate in Arabic was given by her cousin at the age of she was only eight.
