Aaliyah Haughton was famous in 1994, when she dropped her debut album Age isn't just a number. In the age group of 15, the album achieved Gold recognition. The group was heavily influenced by R. Kelly, and put the singer on the map. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If Your Girl Could Only Know. With the success of this album, Aaliyah won international acclaim as an R&B performer. In 2000, she was in Romeo Must Die, a romance/action movie with Jet-Li. Joel Silver spotted her in an awards show. In 2002 she got to appear in the horror film Queen of the Damned which was inspired by Anne Rice's Anne Rice novel. She also starred in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She has been awarded four Grammy nods for 1999 2001 2002 and 2003. The actress is the first Indian American to be from Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is an abbreviation for her married name Mankad. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as her professional names. The acting career of her began in the mid 2000's, with a few roles on TV and films. Other than The Big Bang Theory her other notable works are Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) as well as Grey's Anatomy (2017). In addition, she has appeared in commercials for big brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to perform as an actress.
