John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who specialized in folk music, inspired millions of people. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his new home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Many consider Denver to be the image of Colorado. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other side of the world or someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew the song would be a top 10 hit. A few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd at Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
