Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman of business. She is the President and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. A California native, Buss has been raised by an affluent family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur with a real estate business who later eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. Following the divorce of her parents in 1972, she began to feel as if she was abandoned. At the age of 19 she inherited the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She was the president at the Great Western Forum, before becoming Vice president for the Lakers. Buss along with her five sisters and brothers, as well as their father, who owned the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder until his death in 2013, took over this ownership by way of a trust.
